7‑Day Caribbean Cruise Packing List Outfit Planner: Your Chic Guide to Sailing the Caribbean

Last updated: April 23, 2026 by Bianca

Pack like a pro for your Caribbean cruise with this chic 7-day packing list, outfit planner, and must-have essentials you don’t want to forget.  7 Day Cruise Packing List Caribbean, 7 Day Royal Caribbean Cruise Packing List, 7 Day Cruise Packing List Caribbean Printable, 7 Day Cruise Packing List Caribbean Family, 7 Day Cruise Packing List Caribbean Cruise, Packing List For 7 Day Caribbean Cruise, Packing List Caribbean Vacation, 4 Day Cruise Packing List Caribbean, Royal Caribbean Alaska Cruise Packing List, Packing List For Caribbean Vacation, Caribbean Travel Packing List, 2 Week Caribbean Packing List, Packing List For 8 Day Caribbean Cruise, Cruise Packing List Caribbean Women

There’s nothing quite like setting sail for the Caribbean. The moment you step onto the ship your world slows down and your wardrobe – usually stuffed into an over‑flowing closet – suddenly needs to live inside a suitcase for a week.

Packing for a cruise isn’t like packing for a resort. Days onboard can include lounging by the pool, exploring vibrant ports, dancing the night away and donning your inner movie star for formal night.

After more Caribbean sailings than I care to admit, I’ve honed a packing routine that balances fashion‑forward outfits with practicality and leaves enough room in the suitcase for souvenirs.

In this guide I’ll walk you through what to pack, how to plan outfits, what to leave at home and the little extras that make life onboard much smoother.

Quick Overview Packing Checklist

Use this high‑level checklist as your cheat sheet before you zip up your suitcase. Screenshot or save it – this is your featured snippet to calm pre‑departure nerves.

Clothing

  • Daytime looks – Pack four to five casual outfits such as shorts, tank tops, breathable tops and lightweight sundresses. Princess Cruises suggests that on a seven‑day Caribbean cruise you’ll want 4–5 daytime casual outfits and two swimsuits. Opt for fabrics like cotton or linen that keep you cool and easily mix and match.
  • Evening wear – Bring two evening outfits for the ship’s formal or “Evening Chic” nights. A chic cocktail dress or jumpsuit for women and a sport coat or suit jacket with slacks for men is plenty. Many cruise lines treat formal nights as optional; one black dress or blazer can be re‑styled with accessories to save space.
  • Swimwear – Pack at least two swimsuits plus cover‑ups or sarongs and a rash guard. You’ll wear them more than you expect. A statement suit for the perfect Instagram shot never hurts.
  • Layering pieces – Even in the Caribbean you’ll encounter cool evenings and heavily air‑conditioned dining rooms. Toss in a lightweight sweater or jacket and a long‑sleeve top for sun protection or modest excursions.
  • Undergarments & sleepwear – Don’t forget bras, underwear, socks and comfy pajamas. Consider moisture‑wicking fabrics for humid nights.

Toiletries & beauty

  • Personal hygiene – Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, hair‑care products, hairbrush/comb, razor and shaving cream. Cruise lines provide basic shampoo and soap but bring your favourite brands if you’re particular.
  • Sun care – Reef‑safe sunscreen (face and body) is non‑negotiable for swimming and snorkeling. After‑sun lotion or aloe vera gel helps soothe parched skin.
  • First aid & health – Pack a small kit with band‑aids, antiseptic cream, pain relievers and allergy medication. Motion‑sickness tablets or bands are essential; Royal Caribbean notes that seasickness remedies and first‑aid basics should be on your list.
  • Hair & makeup – Humidity plays tricks on hair. Bring anti‑frizz serum, hair ties and styling tools. For makeup, think dual use: tinted moisturizer, bronzer, mascara and a bold lip for formal night. Celebrity Cruises notes that a toothbrush, floss, lip balm and your favourite makeup are cruise packing must‑haves.

Documents

  • Travel documents – Passport (or birth certificate plus government ID), visas if required, cruise boarding passes, and vaccination or medical documentation should travel in your carry‑on. People Mover Travel reminds cruisers to pack both digital and physical copies of these documents in your carry‑on bag.
  • Insurance & cards – Bring your travel insurance papers, health insurance card, credit card and a small amount of local currency for tips and small purchases.

Extras & essentials

  • Magnetic hooks – Cabin walls are metal. Magnetic hooks add much‑needed hanging space for hats, swimsuits and lanyards.
  • Lanyard for key card – Your cruise card unlocks your cabin and pays for on‑board purchases. A lanyard with a card holder keeps it accessible.
  • Reusable water bottle & day bag – Stay hydrated and reduce plastic waste. Pack a lightweight day bag for excursions.
  • Portable charger – Between photos, excursions and checking the ship’s app, your phone will be busy. Royal Caribbean lists portable chargers among the technology items to pack.
  • Sea sickness remedies – Even seasoned sailors can feel queasy. Pack motion‑sickness bands or medication.
  • Packing cubes & laundry bag – Use packing cubes to organize outfits and compress space; bring a collapsible laundry bag to separate dirty clothes.

What To Wear On A Caribbean Cruise

Your cruise wardrobe has to cover a broad spectrum: breezy days by the pool, adrenaline‑charged shore excursions and candlelit dinners. Here’s how to curate a suitcase that’s both fashionable and functional.

Day outfits: pool & excursions

Think beach‑chic meets active explorer. Pack breathable sundresses, shorts and tank tops that you can throw on over swimwear. A couple of lightweight long‑sleeve shirts offer sun protection and a modest option for visits to religious sites.

For active excursions – zip‑lining, ATV tours or nature hikes – tuck in athletic shorts, quick‑dry tops and sneakers. Royal Caribbean suggests sneakers for sports or excursions and water shoes for snorkeling or cenote swimming.

Dinner outfits: casual & formal

Evenings on board range from casual to glam. Most nights the dress code is smart casual – think chic jeans, a flowy blouse or maxi dress and loafers or wedges. On formal or “Evening Chic” nights, Celebrity Cruises notes that you can dress to impress with a cocktail dress, skirt, designer jeans paired with a blazer or an elegant top.

A suit jacket and slacks with or without a tie works for men. You don’t need a ball gown or tuxedo unless you want to; one black dress or jumpsuit can be reimagined with statement earrings or a shawl. On a seven‑night sailing expect two formal nights.

Travel day outfit

Embarkation day is a travel marathon: airports, taxis and lines at the cruise terminal. Wear a comfortable yet polished outfit – think joggers or relaxed trousers, a lightweight knit, and sneakers. Keep your swimwear and a cover‑up in your carry‑on so you can hit the pool while waiting for luggage to be delivered.

Beach looks

Life on a Caribbean cruise revolves around the water. Bring at least two swimsuits – one to wear and one drying.

Sarongs or kaftans are versatile cover‑ups for grabbing lunch or strolling through port. A rash guard provides extra sun protection and is a must for snorkeling. For a little fashion fun, pack a statement bikini or one‑piece that makes you feel fabulous.

7‑Day Cruise Outfit Planner (day‑by‑day)

Planning outfits ahead of time avoids overpacking and takes the guesswork out of your mornings. Mix and match pieces to create new looks and rewear items in fresh combinations.

Day 1: Boarding & sail away

  • Morning travel: Comfortable travel outfit described above.
  • Afternoon on deck: Change into a swimsuit and cover‑up. Add a wide‑brimmed hat, sunglasses and sandals.
  • Evening casual dining: Pull on white jeans, a colourful blouse and statement earrings. Slip into comfortable espadrilles; you’ll be exploring the ship.

Day 2: Sea day

  • Pool time: Wear your second swimsuit with a breezy sundress.
  • Activities: Add a rash guard for water slides or FlowRider surfing, and toss on sneakers if you try the rock‑climbing wall.
  • Evening Chic: Formal night – debut your cocktail dress or jumpsuit. Pair with low block heels and a clutch; keep jewellery minimal for a modern look.

Day 3: Port day (Adventure excursion)

  • Morning excursion: Quick‑dry shorts, athletic tank and sneakers or closed‑toe water shoes. Pack bug spray and a hat.
  • Afternoon: Change into a swimsuit and sarong on the ship or at the beach; bring a reusable water bottle.
  • Evening: Flowy midi skirt paired with the same blouse from Day 1, illustrating the beauty of mix‑and‑match dressing.

Day 4: Sea day & activities

  • Morning: Yoga or fitness class? Wear your leggings and sports bra.
  • Afternoon: Repeat your favourite swimsuit with a different cover‑up; add a kimono for a boho vibe.
  • Evening: Smart‑casual dinner – linen trousers, off‑the‑shoulder top and wedge sandals.

Day 5: Port day (Beach)

  • Beach: Bold statement swimsuit, rash guard, floppy hat and flip flops. Carry a beach bag with towel clips, reef‑safe sunscreen, waterproof phone case and a waterproof pouch for valuables.
  • Late afternoon: Sundress or rompers to stroll the port.
  • Evening: Second formal night – bring out that black dress or blazer again with different accessories.

Day 6: Sea day & theme night

  • Daytime: Repeat favourite casual pieces or explore the gym. If your cruise has a themed party (white night, 80s night, pirate night), pack appropriate fun attire.
  • Evening: Smart casual – think jumpsuit with belt, or crisp chinos and a linen shirt. Comfortable mules finish the look.

Day 7: Disembarkation

  • Morning: Comfortable travel outfit. Keep a sweater handy – cruise terminals can be chilly.
  • Carry‑on essentials: Make sure your travel documents and valuables are in your day bag.

Cruise Formal Night Packing Guide

Formal night is your chance to channel your inner movie star, but there’s no need to overdo it. Cruise lines increasingly lean towards “smart casual” rather than black tie. Here’s how to strike the right balance.

  • Dresses & jumpsuits – A cocktail dress or elegant jumpsuit is perfect. Look for fabrics that travel well (think satin blends or crepe) and pack a shawl or pashmina to combat air‑conditioning. Solid colours accessorise easily and allow you to wear the same piece twice with different jewellery.
  • Heels & footwear – Heels photograph beautifully, but ship decks can be uneven. Consider block heels, wedges or dressy flats. Celebrity Cruises reminds guests that flip‑flops aren’t allowed in the main dining rooms.
  • Accessories – Statement earrings, a silk scarf or cuff bracelets are light but impactful. A small clutch with a wrist strap keeps your hands free.
  • Men’s attire – A sport coat or suit jacket with slacks and a collared shirt checks every box. A tie is optional; many cruisers lean toward relaxed refinement.
  • Frequency – On seven‑night cruises there are typically two formal or “Evening Chic” nights. Pack one core outfit and swap accessories to freshen the look.

Must‑Have Cruise Essentials You’ll Forget

Seasoned cruisers swear by a few unexpected items that make life at sea smoother. They don’t take up much space but add convenience you’ll thank yourself for later.

  • Magnetic hooks – Cabin walls are metal and closet space is limited. Magnetic hooks create spots to hang hats, wet swimsuits or bags. They can also hold an over‑the‑door organiser.
  • Lanyard for your key card – Instead of misplacing your cruise card in a beach bag, clip it to a lanyard. Many lanyards come with a waterproof holder so you can go hands‑free.
  • Reusable water bottle – Staying hydrated under the tropical sun is crucial. Refill at beverage stations and cut down on disposable cups.
  • Portable charger & adapters – With all those photos and daily schedules on the cruise app, your phone will drain quickly. Royal Caribbean lists portable chargers and adapters among top tech items to pack.
  • Motion sickness remedies – Even if you rarely get seasick, pack acupressure bands, ginger chews or medication. Stormy nights can surprise the steadiest sailor.
  • Towel clips & waterproof pouch – On breezy sea days towel clips keep your deck chair setup intact. A waterproof pouch protects your phone and cash during snorkeling or boat excursions.
  • Packing cubes & collapsible laundry bag – Packing cubes streamline your suitcase and keep outfits organised. A collapsible laundry bag keeps damp swimwear away from clean clothes.

What NOT To Pack (cruise rules)

Cruise ships have strict safety regulations, and some items that are commonplace at home are banned on board. Don’t waste suitcase space on anything that will be confiscated at check‑in.

  • Irons & steamers – These are fire hazards and not allowed on most ships. Instead, pack wrinkle‑release spray or send garments to the ship’s pressing service.
  • Surge protectors & extension cords – Cruise lines prohibit surge protectors. Opt for cruise‑approved power strips or multi‑port USB chargers.
  • Candles & heating appliances – Leave candles, electric kettles and coffee makers at home.
  • Weapons & contraband – Weapons, explosives and illicit drugs (including marijuana, even if legal at your departure port) are strictly forbidden.
  • Skateboards & hoverboards – Any personal transportation devices like skateboards or hoverboards are banned.
  • Extra alcohol – Cruise lines usually allow one sealed 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne per guest. Royal Caribbean states that additional bottles will be stored and returned at the end of the voyage. Save money on drinks by pre‑purchasing a beverage package instead.

Toiletries & Beauty Packing List

Cruise cabins come with basic toiletries, but you’ll feel more glamorous (and comfortable) with your own favourites. Use pouches or a hanging toiletry bag to keep everything organised in the compact bathroom.

  • SPF essentials – Reef‑safe sunscreen for your face and body is essential for the Caribbean sun. Choose high‑SPF broad‑spectrum formulas. Pack a separate facial sunscreen to avoid breakouts.
  • After‑sun care – Aloe vera gel or after‑sun lotion soothes burned skin and keeps your tan looking luminous. Lip balm with SPF prevents chapped lips.
  • Hair products for humidity – Anti‑frizz serum, leave‑in conditioner and sea‑salt spray will keep your hair polished in tropical humidity. Celebrity notes that hairdryers are provided, but you may want your own styling tools.
  • Makeup: light vs glam nights – For day use, pack tinted moisturizer, bronzer, mascara and lip tint. For formal nights, add a bold lip, shimmer shadow or eyeliner. Don’t forget makeup remover and setting spray.
  • Personal care – Deodorant, perfume, razor and shaving cream, feminine hygiene products and vitamins. A small kit with tweezers, nail clippers and Q‑tips is always useful.
  • Insect repellent – Tropical ports can attract mosquitos. Bring a travel‑size spray.
  • Medications & first aid – Include prescription medications, pain relievers, allergy tablets and seasickness remedies.
  • Travel‑size toiletries – Facial cleanser, moisturizer, shampoo and conditioner; even if provided onboard, you may prefer your own. Celebrity suggests packing toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, cotton pads and mouthwash.

Shoes Breakdown: From Flip Flops To Formal Heels

Shoes take up precious suitcase real estate, so be strategic. These four categories cover every occasion without overpacking.

  • Flip flops/sandals – Essential for pool decks and casual port days. One pair of flip‑flops or flat sandals will suffice. Make sure they have good grip; wet decks can be slippery.
  • Sandals or espadrilles – Comfortable sandals or espadrilles dress up sundresses and jumpsuits. People Mover Travel suggests sandals or flip‑flops for the pool and walking around the ship.
  • Dinner shoes – Bring one pair of dressy shoes for formal nights. Block heels or wedges offer stability when the ship moves. Celebrity reminds guests that flip‑flops are not permitted in main dining rooms in the evenings.
  • Sneakers & water shoes – Sneakers are a must for excursions, gyms and activities. Consider closed‑toe water shoes for snorkeling and rocky beaches.
  • Optional extras – If you plan hikes or heavy‑duty tours, pack trail shoes or hiking sandals. For cooler excursions in the shoulder season, slip‑on rain boots may come in handy.

Excursion‑Specific Packing

Not all ports are created equal. What you pack depends on whether you’re snorkeling over coral reefs, strolling pastel‑painted towns or zooming through treetops. Use this section to tailor your day bags.

Snorkeling & water sports

Most excursion operators provide fins and masks, but if you’re particular about fit, bring your own snorkel gear. Wear a rash guard or swim shirt for sun protection and pack reef‑safe sunscreen.

Closed‑toe water shoes keep your footing secure on boat ladders. A waterproof phone case and waterproof pouch protect your electronics and cash. Don’t forget a towel clip for your pool lounger when you return.

Beach days

Towel clips keep your towel from flying away on windy decks. Bring a beach bag with compartments for sunscreen, a book, portable speaker and snacks.

A packable hat with full brim protects your face, and a lightweight sarong serves as a cover‑up, picnic blanket or impromptu scarf. Carry a reusable water bottle and consider packing your own snorkel mask if you like to explore shallow reefs.

Adventure tours

Wear moisture‑wicking activewear and supportive sneakers. Pack bug spray, sun protection, and a small cross‑body or fanny pack to keep your hands free. For jungle or zip‑line tours, consider long trousers to protect your legs. A rain jacket or poncho is handy in tropical showers.

Packing Tips For A Cruise: Practical Advice

Cruise cabins are cosy, and overpacking can make them feel even smaller. Follow these practical tips to stay organised and stress‑free.

  1. Carry‑on essentials – Always keep travel documents, medications, a swimsuit, change of clothes and valuables in your carry‑on. Checked bags may take hours to arrive in your cabin, and you don’t want to miss that first dip in the pool.
  2. Roll, don’t fold – Rolling clothes saves space and minimizes wrinkles. Princess Cruises recommends rolling and using packing cubes to organise by day or type.
  3. Use packing cubes & organisers – Packing cubes compress clothes and separate categories. People Mover Travel suggests foldable hanging shelves or over‑the‑door organisers to maximise vertical space.
  4. Laundry on board – Many ships offer self‑service laundrettes or valet laundry services. Bring a small laundry detergent pack or cash for the machines. Instead of irons (which are banned), pack wrinkle‑release spray.
  5. Mix & match – Choose a colour palette and pack items that work together. Rewear pieces like black jeans, white blouses or neutral tanks to create multiple outfits. This dramatically reduces the number of items you need.
  6. Plan for weather – Caribbean weather is generally warm, but evenings can be cool. Check the forecast for each port a few days before your trip and adjust accordingly. A lightweight jacket and rain poncho don’t take up much space.
  7. Digital & physical backups – Keep photos of your passport, vaccination cards and insurance on your phone and in the cloud. Also bring printed copies in case of technology glitches.
  8. Leave room for souvenirs – Pack a collapsible tote bag or leave space in your suitcase for rum, spices or art from the islands.
  9. Respect the dress code – Check your cruise line’s dress code before departure. Some lines enforce dressier evenings, while others are relaxed. A quick review saves you the embarrassment of wearing flip‑flops to an elegant dining room.
  10. Check prohibited items – Review the list of prohibited items – irons, candles, surge protectors – to avoid confiscation. If you like a nightcap, bring the allowed limit of wine (usually one 750 ml bottle per adult).

Printable Packing List

Packing for a Caribbean cruise can feel daunting, but with a little planning it becomes an enjoyable part of the adventure. Use the quick overview checklist at the top as your printable guide – copy it into your notes app or print it out to tick off items as they go into your suitcase. Creating a personalized packing list not only ensures you don’t forget essentials, it builds excitement for the trip ahead.

As a final note, remember that a cruise is about ease and indulgence. Resist the urge to pack your entire closet; rely on versatile, chic pieces you love and the accessories that make them feel new again. Bring the essentials for health and comfort – sunscreen, motion sickness remedies, and your favourite toiletries – and let go of anything that doesn’t spark joy or serve a purpose.

With thoughtful planning you’ll breeze through embarkation, settle into your cosy cabin and spend your days soaking up sunshine rather than stressing about what to wear. Bon voyage!
