Are There Beaches In Lake Garda?
Yes, there are plenty of beaches on Lake Garda. Many of the towns have public as well as private beaches run by the hotels on Italy’s largest lake. Some of the beaches are well serviced where you have everything you need for a sunny beach holiday as you would on any sunny beach vacation. You can also do all the same activities you would expect to do on the beaches in Spain, right here on the beaches of Lake Garda.
Does lake garda have sandy beaches?
Yes, Lake Garda has sandy beaches but not many, I have covered one or two sandy beaches below. Many of the beaches on Lake Garda are pebble beaches but still very much enjoyable with clear lake waters.
Best Beaches In Lake Garda (Lago Di Garda Beaches)
Lake Garda makes for the perfect holiday destination as it comes with its own microclimate which produces favourable weather throughout the year. Temperatures can be as high as 18-20 degrees in March and April and October/November too. You can swim in the lake from May to October. With that in mind below are some of the best beaches in Lake Garda.
Also, note that the lake has plenty more beaches beyond these. Some of these can be private beaches that are part of a hotel or accommodation in Lake Garda. Not to worry though as I have also shared below a list of Lake Garda beach hotels where you have access to the hotel’s private beach. So if you are looking for perfect Lake Garda beach holidays, you definitely will not be disappointed.
The crystal clear water in many of the beaches is usually warm, perfect for swimming!
Laguna Beach is located in Sirmione. It’s a well-equipped beach, you can rent pedal boats, there are restaurants, with free parking only during the holidays and in August. There are benches along the water’s edge, you can also rent sunbeds and umbrellas and dogs are also allowed here.
Located in Salo, this is another one among the best beaches at Lake Garda. With plenty of activities and facilities available. There is a summer gym, swimming pool with lessons on offer too, football, beach volleyball, tennis(lessons also available) beauty centre, diving centre too. You can also rent sailing boats with a driver if you are a lake trip, canoes, pedal boats and more. There are changing rooms, baby areas too. There are bars and restaurants close by and parking is free.
Salo beach like many beaches in Lake Garda is a pebble beach. This is popular with everyone from families, old and young. Great beach for swimming for all ages as you have shallow areas too. You can find a couple of cafes near the beach. You can rent sunbeds and umbrellas. What is amazing about this beach is that there is a really long promenade so if you love long walks on the beach this is amazing. There are plenty of stunning views across the mountains and neigbhouring towns in Lake Garda.
Jamaica Beach(Giamaica Beach)
This beach takes its name after the soft white sand beaches of the Carribean Island. While many of the beaches in Lake Garda have pebbles, this lovely small beach in Sirmione has sand. With it being small it can be somewhat popular in the high tourist seasons of the summer months. The crowds are rather too big for the size of the beach. It’s great for swimming, chilling with a drink or coffee in the nearby cafes. If you want somewhere to relax I would suggest picking a different beach nearby for a bit of space and peach and quiet.
Sestino Beach is located in Desenzano del Garda, one of my favorite towns in Lake Garda. There are bars, restaurants nearby. If you want to experience nightlife in Lake Garda, this is another area to check out as they have music and drinks to enjoy as you take in the scene.
Another stunning beach in Riva del Garda is among the best beaches Lake Garda has to offer with beautiful mountain backdrops and grass areas to chill out and sunbathe. Popular with the young crowds and couples. There is plenty of entertainment, bars as well as facilities to shower. You can also rent sunbeds, there is a small playground nearby with sandpit, a floating platform, and pool on the inside. If you love windsurfing there is also a dedicated area for lovers of the adventurous sport by Bavaria campground.
Located in Riva del Garda, another great one of the beaches on Lake Garda for relaxing or chilling with a book under a shade. Great for swimming or sunbathing. This is another pebble beach with clear crystal waters of Lake Garda.
Liner Beach is located in Moniga del Garda and is a large stony beach with free parking nearby. Note that while great for those looking for a quiet beach, there are no facilities here. No rentals for sun loungers or umbrellas.
Baia Delle Sirene(Private Beach)
This pebble beach is located in Garda town and is a private beach set on a parkland. Offer a great place to relax. Twinkling Crystal clear water as you relax under the shade. There are cafes and restaurants nearby. There are facilities for picnicking, ping pong tables and other facilities which make this another great beach for families in Lake Garda. There is a fee for using this beach. Also be sure to also check the opening and closing time.
Fido Beach by Ca’Nina
Fido Beach is located in Manerba del Garda. There are parking facilities near the beach, there are rentals available for sunbeds and umbrellas, these start from € 9. If you are looking for a beach in Lake Garda for dog lovers that this is it! There are plenty of dog walkers here, you can also find dog training lessons here too.
This is located in Portese and is great for swimming. You have both deep and shallow areas for swimming. There are a couple of restaurants nearby for food and snacks as well as a gelateria too. Its a great place to chill out as its super busy but it also doesn’t have too many facilities so bear that in mind although there are changing facilities nearby.
Porto San Felice Beach
This is a pebble beach in Lake Garda and located in Benaco. It’s near a small port where small boats come into. Popular with locals and visitors. Just bear in mind that many bring their own facilities here as it’s small with plenty of decked area. Not a lot in terms of facilities to rent by plenty come here to chill out, sunbath and swim. There are restaurants, pizzerias and bars near too. Dogs are allowed on this beach as this beach stretches on for hundreds of meters.
Sabbioni beach is located in Riva Del Garda and is one of the largest beaches on Lake Garda. This is another lovely pebble beach with a grass area to chill out on. There are also life guards here too and many facilities such as parking(not free), sunbed rental, showers, canoe hire, a rowing club, and basketball court. There are shops and restaurants nearby too. You can chill on the lawn or the beaches along the beach promenade. There are free bathroom facilities nearby where you can change too. If you love to cycle there is a nice bicycle path near the beach too. This is also great for families too considering that it’s populated with lifeguards throughout the day with other facilities for kids too like playground with trampolines and sandpits.
Lido Di Villa
Another one of the cool beaches around Lake Garda. This a small beach in Gargnano with great views of Gargnano. Its a well-run beach with plenty of facilities available many of which you have to pay for. There is also music most evenings. Parking is available for free nearby, there are shower facilities as well as changing rooms with showers too. Also a couple of bars for drinks and snacks. You can rent surf boards, sun loungers, umbrellas and pedalos as well as kayaks. Prices for rentals start around 4 euros.
Located in Padenghe sul Garda and quiet a large beach too, with parking close to the beach, plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas to rent. You can also hire pedalos and canoes here too. There is a bar and restaurant close by.
The views are just stunning here. A quiet beach populated by locals mostly. Pisenze beach is located in Manerba del Garda and is a stony beach like many of the beautiful Lago di Garda beaches here. Not much in terms of facilities but there are toilets nearby as well as a restaurant too.
